Brachioplasty – Arm Lift Process – Bethesda
Brachioplasty is a detailed surgical procedure that can be tailored to meet your beauty goals. For those who are bothered by sagging or drooping skin on their arms, a brachioplasty may be ideal. A brachioplasty, or in layman’s terms an arm lift, generally is performed in four steps.
The first step is anesthesia. This step is common with all invasive surgeries and involves administering medication for your comfort during the surgery. There is intravenous sedation and general anesthesia.
Then, an incision is made generally along the inside or back of the arm, depending on your preferences. The size of the incision will be based on how much tissue you decide to remove and the recommendations of the doctor. Then the incisions are closed with absorbable sutures that will be removed within two weeks.
The final step is the recovery process. You results are immediately visible but will gradually change as swelling goes away and you heal.
At the Plastic Surgery Institute of Washington, our board-certified team of experienced plastic surgeons can answer any questions you may have about arm lifts.
